Perkins proposes trading Jimmy Butler to 76ers after poor start for Heat

Former NBA champion and current basketball analyst Kendrick Perkins suggested that the Heat consider trading All-Star Jimmy Butler to an Eastern Conference contender at some point this season. He said the Philadelphia 76ers would be a good possible destination for Butler.

Perkins said there is a lot of uncertainty in Miami right now and a trade involving its star player could provide the answer. He also said that the Heat are struggling and he doesn't think the Heat will make the playoffs this year.

So far this season, Butler has appeared in four games, averaging 16.5 points, 7.25 rebounds, 3.5 assists and one steal in 33 minutes per game.

Interestingly, if Butler is traded to the 76ers, he would be returning to the team he played for for part of the 2018-19 season. That year, he made 55 appearances for the 76ers, contributing 18.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4 assists and 1.8 steals per game and helping the 76ers reach the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Butler was looking forward to playing with All-Star Damian Lillard for the Heat this season, but negotiations fell through and Lillard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. Butler said it's hard to give up on a talent like Lillard, but he also admitted that negotiations are what they are, and unfortunately things didn't work out the way they were supposed to.

Despite the setback, Butler said he and the Heat will continue to compete and beat all the teams that stand in their way, including Lillard and the Bucks. However, the Heat are off to a poor start to the season with a 1-4 record.
